Hear What’s New
After more than thirty years in practice I am thrilled to report that the latest digital technology represents a huge improvement for patients. Not only are these small, discrete devices full com-puters, they adjust automatically and are smart enough to detect the difference between the char-acteristics of speech and noise. Most importantly, patients are reporting a significant improve-ment in their ability to understand speech in noisy listening environments like restaurants and family gatherings. While it is impossible to eliminate background noise when you are immersed in these lively environments, patients routinely report that they are better able to understand speech with the new technology.
“PHS embraces the very latest in technology. The hearing aids they prescribe, sell and service are not your father’s hearing aids.” John, current patient
"I continue to be amazed at how the hearing industry has utilized technology to improve the per-formance of hearing aids. This being my third set of hearing aids is vastly better than what I had previously." Tom, current patient
Advanced noise reduction technology and a precise directional microphone work together to re-duce noise and help make speech easier to hear in today's challenging environments. If you have worn hearing aids for more than a few years, you may recall the feedback that would occur when anything came in close contact with the aids. How embarrassing it was to hug someone and have the aids squeal. Feedback is a thing of the past in today's technology. In addition, it's now possi-ble to connect hearing aids to smart phones so you don't even have to pick up the phone to answer it. The calls stream directly to the aids for hearing in both ears simultaneously. It's also possible to send any music or media played on a smart phone directly to hearing aids.
